Ants
can find their way through complex mazes.
Ants
often march in distinct columns following chemical trails.
Some ants follow
light patterns and gravity. They can do this
because they have special sense organs in the joints of their
legs.
Many
ants only work in the underground passages of the nest. Some only
work on the land. They do not change jobs!
Some
ants keep aphids in their nests. The aphids make a liquid called
honey-dew. The ants eat the honey-dew and in turn provide food
for the aphids.
Some ants collect pieces of leaves
and take them back to the nest. Fungi grow on the decaying leaves
and the ants eat the fungi.
