The tadpoles soon grow larger and are able to swim away from the weed.

They breathe through feather like gills on the sides of the head.

They begin to eat algae and other vegetable matter. They are also carnivorous and eat frog and fish eggs and even each other.

If you ever keep tadpoles you will find they will eat pieces of raw meat.
