 ALL LIVING THINGS HAVE CELLS.

Complex living things like plants and animals are made up of many cells

All cells are made from a substance called protoplasm.

The main parts of a cell are:

The nucleus

The cytoplasm

The plasma membrane

A cell is too small to see without a microscope.

A cell is the smallest whole part of any living thing.

A cell is alive.

A cell can split in two, in order to grow.

An important function of cells, is to enable living things to repair themselves.

They need to do this to replace old and worn out tissue.

Some animals, such as crabs and starfish can grow new limbs.

Mammals can grow scar tissue over cuts.

Broken bones can repair.

Plants can grow scar tissue over damaged areas.

They may regenerate stems, leaves and flowers as long as their roots have not been destroyed.
